Week 1 in the MTC

Hey Mom! so glad to hear from you, it feels like the last time we talked was a month ago! Just to let you know i will try to call a little later, but we do not have much time. because there are 25 of us and 15 computers, and most are from the U.S. so everybody is trying to facetime their families. I also do not have much time right now.
It has been great! I really am suprised how much i am loving studying everyday for ALL DAY. I really feel like there is not enough time in the day to get done what i want to get done. kinda crazy. I am an a trio right now, which is such a pain getting used to this companion thing. one is named Elder Jones and he is from Nampa, Idaho. he ran cross country and is really fast. my other companion is named Elder Harold. He is from Orem, Utah and plays ping pong. he, is also very good at ping pong.
it is really hard to stay patient, because we are learning to teach and I do not know everything and cannot teach a whole lesson on my own. However, i feel like this is part of why I am in this companionship. for me, to be more humble and more patient, and to help them grow.
I am such good friends with the rest of the MTC. i really feel like we have all met before! I am so glad our MTC is so small, it really is a blessing to know each of them personally. its awesome that we are all here for the same reasons. i have felt the spirit so much this week in lessons and small ways.  My district is amazing. Elder Krupp is our district leader, and he is from Sacramento, California. he is funny and is great at teaching. there is also Elder Chifarimba, how is from Western cape and he is so cool. i was standing next to him in that video of the wise man, and ohh boy i have to explain that one to you when i call you. i am picking up a little bit of Xhoosa, it is a really cool language. my roommates are the best, one is from South Africa, and the other from Durban, South Africa. well, we are preparing to go to the temple in a few minutes so i've gotta cut it short. anyways, i will try my best to call tonight around 5pm my time. i love and miss you so much.

Tanner left yesterday for South Africa. What a crazy day!! We weren't sure how he was going to make his connection in Denver (we actually don't know if he did) but he made it to Atlanta. A sweet mom sent this picture. I immediately was bawling, but mostly out of relief. Relief that he made it and relief that he was with other missionaries. He wasn't alone.

You can follow his MTC adventures on facebook. Just search for South Africa Missionary Training Center.
